MWU Tutoring Program

Student Services is responsible for administration of the peer tutoring program, offering weekly open and small group peer tutoring services to enrolled students for selected courses at no cost to the student. In addition, on each campus, Senior Education Specialists are available by program referral for small group and 1:1 tutoring in select basic science courses

Available peer tutoring is designed to help enhance test-taking skills, modify study habits, and/or focus on critical material and content. Peer tutoring serves as additional academic support and does not take the place of class attendance, face-to-face meetings with faculty/course directors, or meetings with peer study groups.

  1. Both open and small group peer tutoring sessions are at a pre-set time and day each week.
  2. Open session peer tutoring is available to all students enrolled in a course without having to sign up
  3. Participation in small group peer tutoring requires approval by the student’s program.
  4. MWU does not offer 1:1 individual peer tutoring. The only 1:1 tutoring offered by MWU is through the Senior Education Specialists and is limited to students already attending Senior Education Specialist small group tutoring for select basic science courses.
  5. Tutoring is an active learning process, and students are expected to come prepared to all tutoring sessions.
  6. Tutoring sessions are not reiterations of the lectures but are interactive sessions on material with which the tutee is struggling.
