Midwestern University maintains a student conduct process to address alleged violations of the Code of Responsibilities and Rights of Students, Midwestern University policies, and applicable laws. This process is intended to provide students with fair notice, an opportunity to be heard, and an impartial resolution when alleged misconduct may result in disciplinary action.
This Student Judicial System applies to non-academic disciplinary matters and to academic and professional misconduct matters when the allegation may warrant disciplinary sanctions that remove a student from good standing, impose probationary/disciplinary status changes, suspension, dismissal, or other significant sanctions.
This Student Judicial System does not replace processes used to evaluate academic performance or professional competency (e.g., Academic Review Committees; Graduation/Promotion Committees; course/clinical evaluation processes). Minor concerns relating to professionalism or academic performance may be addressed through educational interventions (including non-disciplinary reports) within the relevant college, provided the student is given a meaningful opportunity to respond consistent with applicable policies.
Matters subject to Midwestern University’s Title IX policy or other discrimination grievance procedures (including disability discrimination and ADA/Section 504 grievances) will be handled under those procedures, including any appeal rights specified there.
Where a matter involves harassment/unlawful discrimination or sexual misconduct, it must be handled under Midwestern University’s applicable Harassment/Unlawful Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct policies and procedures.
